Additions cannot be backdated. The insurer will only add a member on the day they receive the complete set of documents.

8. My addition has been rejected. Why? What is the solution?

Insurers reject late additions where the request is submitted after 30 days from visa issue date or employment date.

This rejection rule aims to avoid anti selection (members being added on a company policy only because they need immediate treatment), and insurers unfortunately don't make exceptions since the medical history is not considered on these policies.

If your insurer has rejected a late addition, we can help you by getting the employee an individual insurance policy.

18. I got a fine for the Abu Dhabi addition. Why? How is the fine calculated?

There are 2 scenarios, explained below.

(1) Employee is new to Abu Dhabi:

  • the member has only 13 days to apply for insurance from the day they enter the UAE, or from the date of status change stamped on their employment visa.

  • After the 13th day, a fine of AED 100 applies, increased to AED 200 on the 21st day and AED 300 on the 30th day. The fine then increases by another AED 100 each following week.

(2) Employee holds a valid Abu Dhabi visa:

  • the member has 29 days from the date the COC was issued to apply for insurance.

  • from day 30, a fine of AED 300 applies, increased by 300 AED every following 29 days.

Yes, partners can be added to the policy midterm if they are new to the UAE/position.

20. How do I calculate the addition pro-rata premium?

The premium is calculated as follow:

Pro-rate premium = full year premium X (number of insurance days remaining / 365)

  • For example, if full year premium is AED 2,000, policy starts 01/01/2020, and member is added on 01/04/2020 then pro-rata premium will be 2,000 * 274 / 365 = 1,501 AED

A member is required to fill out a Medical Declaration Form (MAF) in 2 scenarios:

You can find the list of all mandatory required documents in your insurer guide or online as your process your addition on Bayzat. Click here for a tutorial on how to add employees to your insurance.

28. I'm late in requesting for an addition of an employee to our insurance. How can I still add the member to the policy?

If an employee's addition is requested after 30 days from the visa issue date or employment date, it will be considered as a late addition by the insurer. Every Insurer has additional requirements for late additions. You can find the details in your insurer endorsement guide.
