When an employee works overtime, is late, leaves early, or is absent, time and pay adjustments (additions and deductions) are created depending on the policies configured. To learn about policy configuration, click here.

Once the time and pay adjustments are created, they will appear in the Pending tab. This article talks about the permissions required for a line manager to act on these adjustments and summarizes the actions that line managers can take.

Deciding compensation types for Extra Hours

When an employee works overtime, depending on the policies set up, employees can be compensated with days in lieu or an addition to their salary. For these extra hour time and pay adjustments, line managers can take various actions depending on the settings selected when configuring the Attendance module (as shown below).

If the toggle is switched OFF, when an extra hours time and pay adjustment is created, line managers can either:

  • Reject it

  • Mark as reviewed - if the line manager agrees that the overtime request is to be approved

However, if the toggle is switched ON, when an extra hours time and pay adjustment is created, line managers can decide whether to assign it to Time off (giving the employee days off) or to assign it to Payroll (giving the employee a monetary amount), along with Super admins & Attendance Managers.

Once the request is approved, it moves to the Approved section and if the toggle switch is ON for a line manager, then the line manager can still reject an approved request or move back the request to pending as shown below.

Reviewing Time and Pay adjustment amounts

When specific policies are created, line managers can also be given permission to see the addition or deduction amount associated with the Time and Pay adjustment.

If this toggle is switched OFF, line managers will just be able to see the status of the request, but all monetary values will not be visible.

However, if the toggle is switched ON, line managers will be able to see all monetary values associated with attendance time and pay adjustments.

Please note. This toggle also applies to Attendance managers
